Cabling the next tech can trace by the label

DCMM designs and installs network infrastructure for Atlanta businesses: structured cabling in fiber and shielded CAT6, switches, firewalls, VPN access, and monitoring. Every run gets a label at both ends and a line on an as-built drawing you keep. If a port dies two years from now, whoever opens that closet will know where it terminates.

That documentation matters because most buildings don’t have it. The typical ceiling we open holds fifteen years of cable with no record of where any of it lands. Half the runs are dead, and nobody knows which half. Every added camera or desk costs an afternoon of toning out wires, and the whole network hangs off one aging switch with no backup for the morning it quits.

SpinVFX renders shots for The Boys and John Wick, and its editors push heavy files between sites every day. The old network couldn’t keep pace. We ran new fiber and shielded CAT6 to every editing suite, designed the backbone around those transfers, and verified each connection before handoff. On time, on budget.

Designed before anyone pulls cable

Every project starts with a walkthrough. Design ends with a drawing you sign off on, sized for next year’s headcount, not just today’s floor plan. A network with only one path goes down the moment that path fails, so we design in a second.

What goes in the walls and racks

Fiber where distance or bandwidth demands it, shielded CAT6 where it doesn’t. Switches come specced with headroom, so growth means patching in a run instead of swapping hardware out. Racks stay dressed. The next tech should be able to trace one cable without unbundling fifty.

The boring parts that save you later

A firewall holds the network’s edge; remote users come in over VPN. Monitoring pages us when something drifts. Firmware and patches land on a schedule. When you call in year three, you reach people who have stood in your closet. None of it is glamorous. All of it is why the network stays up.
