Whoever grabs the card copies it onto whichever drive has room, and no two people name it the same. By the time an editor goes looking, the file could be on three drives under three different names, none matching the shot list, and the edit starts an hour behind schedule. On delivery day, someone confirms by hand that the version going out is the one the client approved, not last Tuesday’s rough cut still sitting in the same folder.
